it's been a long time so let's update again. especialy since i just got back from JOs. which by the way was the BOMB. i have so much to say that i don't know what to say. even though we didn't get to win as many games as we wanted to, i would still call our trip a success. ended up in 31st place with a 2-4 record. not bad for our first time. we played teams from different states.. michigan, missouri, and texas. i'm going to leave so much out but oh well. ok let's see if i can remember what we do each day..
Friday:
left at 4 and got to san jose at around 9:15. we had a team meeting about general rules and behavior. we got our suits and shirts and then just went to our rooms after that. not much on that day. oh and we stayed at doubletree which is a pretty nice hotel. i'll always remember sleeping in between 2 guys on one bed since we had 5 to a room. not a very pleasent experience may i add.
Saturday:
Woke up at 8, ate breakfast, and took off to our first game. I was all giddy and nervous for our first game. we played jungle cat for our first game. i wasn't too sure what to expect. overall they were a pretty weak team with no significant players and we ended up winning 6-3. VERY good way to start off in the best water polo tournament in the nation. it felt good after that win. really good. after that we went to subway and then back to the hotels. we had rest time/free time after that until our next game which was at like 5. next game: davis. very tough game. they had a very good set who was at least 6'4 and scored a lot of their goals. i can't really remember anyone else on their team. hard loss at 5-9. the mood died down and we had our meeting and went to go eat dinner at CATHAY. it was funny to see so many white guys at a chinese restaurant. it was a fake chinese restaurant though but it looked like a real one. the food was nasty and everyone left all hungry and mad. my dad took a few of us after to a real chinese fast food place to fill up our stomachs. went back to hotel, played holdem, and slept. this time i slept on the edge of the bed and darren in the middle LOL. even worse because i was teetering dangerously over the edge of the bed the whole night. record at the end of the day: 1-1.
Sunday:
woke up forget when, ate breakfast, and headed off to our game. first game of the day: great lakes. another tough team but i don't remember any significant players. their team was pretty well-rounded. we lost 6-12 after that we got food and came back to the pooldeck to scout out the next team we played. sat around in the dead time and probablky played holdem at the hotel while waiting for our next game. next team we played: eastside. overall a HORRIBLE team with only a decent set. everyone on our team was playing at our worst. everyone was missing shots, getting countered, and fumbling the ball. ended up losing 3-5. very bad game in general and a game to forget. after that we went to go eat at an italian buffet. it was salad, pizza, and pasta. VERy good meal and everyone got a little happier after that. and plus everyone remembered cathay the previous night so this food was heavenly compared to that. and there were renaissance paintings on the wall of the old times and in one picture there was a horse with a huge penis. it was really funny because it was right where the food was and that lightened up the mood even more. after dinner we went bowling and that really hit the spot. everyone was in a better mood and having a fun time. it was a great time to bond and enjoy ourselves. after bowling and playing pool we went back to the hotel and got in our speedos and went to the pool and hot tub. it was pretty fun just chilling in the hot tub. after that me and lazz ran in our speedos back to our hotel room while we were wet. it was funny cuz in the elevator there were these 2 asian guys and it was hard to keep my laughter in. after we got to our rooms we played holdem again. AFTER holdem the most chaotic thing happened ever. we had FOUR guys in one shower at once all in speedos. it was me, lazz, svitek, and brad. lazz put the anti-slip pad in teh shower for extra safety. so we were taking a shower with brad in the front, then svitek, then lazz, and me in the very back. we put shampoo in our hairs and the soap was getting into my eyes so i wanted to fight my way to the front where the water was. so i fought my way to the front and accidentaly shoved svitek out of the way. svitek lost his balance and began to fall OUT of the shower. he had shampoo in his eyes so it was even funnier. half blinded, he clawed recklessly to find anything he could grab onto to break his fall. his left hand reached for brad's eyes and his right hand reached for the shower certain. svitek FELL out of the shower and took the shower curtain with him, snapping all of the clips holding the shower curtain on. he hit his head on the shower floor and everyone erupted in laughter. it was the funniest thing EVER and definitelly an event to remember. it was freaking hilarious. after that we just decided to get out of the shower. we left our shower with wet towels on the floor and soaking went with a broken shower curtain. it was a complete disaster in our bathroom. after all our hyper-ness died down we all went to our rooms and went to bed. this time i slept with my dad because he had a free bed and i didn't want to sleep 3 to a bed again. i had a very nice rest that day. record at the end of the day: 1-3.
Monday:
got to sleep in and woke up at 10. we had a brunch buffet in the hotel which was awesome. after our meal, we headed off to the pool to play our only game of the day: concord. they had a decent set with decent outside shooters. overall a pretty weak team. we played another bad game and ended up losing 7-4. or something like that. i can't really remember the score. so the team was pretty bummed about having a 1-4 record when we had such a good start. so we sat around and watched some other games and we saw a shootout. my first time ever watching a water polo shootout which was pretty intense. each team chooses 5 players to shoot 4meters on the goalie and each 4meter they make adds on to their score. we watched the texas lefty get PWNED by the other goalie. it was gg after that. after the shootout we had some dead time so we went to 7-11 for some snacks and sat around. then we went to a mexican restaurant for dinner. our side of the table was jinx giddy and everyone was tryiung to jinx each other. and we played go-jee-bah. that was pretty fun. after dinner we went back to the hotel and messed around. we got in the pool/hot tub and had a great time. we were playing keep-away in the pool with some 12&under kids and then we went to the hot tub. pringle made a guest appearance at the pool and then we went back to our rooms after chilling in the hot tub. played holdem once again and just went to sleep. i slept in my dad's room again. record at the end of the day: 1-4.
Tuesday:
woke up early at 6:00 and had breakfast and headed off to our last game. after a rough weekend with 4 losses the team was looking for the win to end off the tournament. the team we played: texas. because it was today, i still remember the game pretty well. we had a strong start gaining a lead early in the game. we maintained the lead for the whole first half and we were up by around 5 goals at the half. 3rd quarter comes and texas fight back. they catch up and tie the game at 7-7. 4th quarter comes and then we were obviously the team that wanted it more. we secured our win by scoring 2 more goals ending it at 9-7. OVerall record: 2-4. afterthe game we all went to the hotel to pack up and headed out. the team parted ways and said our goodbyes. it was a rocky season MV, but i liked how it ended. now we go to our separate schools. i'm looking forward to playing arcadia and san marino next year. good luck to everyone at their schools and see you guys in season. looking forward to our banquet and next year's summer season when we qualify for JOs again.
